Daddy's Best B-day Gift Ever!

If you have not already heard, we were blessed by the arrival of our gorgeous daughter, Shelby Reese, on June 26th at 5:50 a.m. She weighed 8 1/2 pounds and was 20.5 inches long.

The morning of the 25th, Chad's birthday, I felt as though my water had begun to leak. After calling the doctor around noon, she told me to go to the hospital to get checked out. At 3:30 I was told that I was not leaking fluid and we were sent home. We then went to meet our families at Outback Steakhouse to celebrate Chad's birthday. As soon as we told them how many people were in our party I felt a sudden gush!!! I did not know if I had wet my pants or what had happened, so I ran off to the bathroom. I then went and got Chad who had just ordered drinks and drug him outside to the car to ask him what he thought. He then ran and got his mother who said she thought it had to be my water. When we got to the hospital the same woman who had previously told me my water had not broken earlier in the day, confirmed it definately had broken that evening. I was admitted to the hospital around 6:30 in the evening. After being given pitocin around 8:00 I labored through the contractions until I was FINALLY given an epidural around 1:00 AM. I quickly fell asleep and slept till 4 AM. When I woke up I was 9 cm dialated and about ready to push. At 5:50 AM our little girl came into this world, five hours and fifty minutes shy of having her daddy's birthday. She was gorgeous and had a full head of beautiful thick, dark and wavy hair. It is at least an inch long in some places, but great for bows.

We are all doing great. She is a wonderful and perfect child, so far, we could not have asked for anything more.

Shelby's Pad

My mom has been locked in Shelby's room since we found out about the dialation situation. She has made some good progress, but we are still not done. We still have a tree or two to add as well as lots of dragonflies, butterflies, and flowers to girl it up. Enjoy!

When do you think???

I went to the doctor on Monday, the 11th, and much to our surprise I am already dialated 2 centimeters and 60% effaced. Shelby is still very high though, but the Dr. said it could be anytime even though I am only at 36 weeks. Our families have started placing bets on weight, height, and what day, so if you care to join in with a guess, just email it to Chad or myself. We will keep you updated and will have ultrasound photos next week for you.

There he goes again!

Chad competed in another triathalon this past weekend in Sugarland. He was 15th out of the 55 in his age group, not too shabby! He did awesome no matter what he says. I am waiting to get pics from his brother because I video taped instead of snapping pics. I will post them when I get them as well as post his final standing, but Good Job Chad!!!
